Here, you will meet traditional winemakers with old damp cellars dating back to the 19th century, but you will also get to know more modern producers and visit wineries designed for the 21st century. 

Besides tasting one of the 7 Gastronomy Wonders of Portugal, the juicy and luscious suckling pig which Bairrada is very famous for, you should also pop by the great fresh seafood and fish restaurants along the coast.

Finally, think of the stunning, palaces and manors many of which are more than several hundred years old, now transformed into luxury hotels and spas.  Bairrada is definitely a wine region you will not want to miss!

This is the home of two unique and high quality types of wine. On one hand, you will find the best sparkling wines in the country, that go so well with the tender suckling pig pork meat; On the other hand, the very well-known Baga variety which is a rich red grape, with strong and unconventional aromas that delight sophisticated wine lovers or those with high standards who enjoy wines with a twist and personality.
