The Terrenus wine project was born from the passion of winemaker Rui Reguinga in a very particular and rich wine “terroir”: the Portalegre region, in Alentejo. Since his first harvest at Tapada do Chaves in 1991, the winemaker fell in love with this different Alentejo, set in the Serra of São Mamede (São Mamede mountains) and capable of producing distinctive, elegant wines with a fresher and more balanced profile. Terrenus wines are produced from old vines with very low production, using local grape varieties - 18 in total. There are a few very selective parcels which have vines over 100 years old, and make some incredible wines.
Here, you will enjoy a unique wine tourism experience, tasting the wines while gazing at the sunset with a beautiful view of the vines and the São Mamede hills in the background. During the winter months, you may also see sheep grazing amongst the vines and integrated in this beautiful scenery.
