Casa de Santar is one of the most iconic wineries in the Dão region, and its wines are renowned for their tradition, authenticity, and nobility, which make this brand so special and well-known for its 400 years of history. It encompasses 103 hectares of land, including the Alto dos Amores, offering a beautiful view of the Dão landscape, and featuring 83 red grape varieties and 20 white grape varieties.
One of the main highlights of the visit is undoubtedly its extensive garden that extends all the way to an 18th-century lake. Historically associated with wine production, with vineyards documented since at least 1678, Casa de Santar stands as one of the most important wine estates in the Dão region, not only for its history but also for its size—it has the largest continuous vineyard in the Dão.
The stately Paço dos Cunhas, built in 1609, can be visited and has four centuries of history, linked to the production of wine and olive oil, and where we find the old, organically grown Vinha do Contador, one of the most emblematic wines in this region's winemaking history.
In addition to visiting the vineyard and wine cellars, Paço dos Cunhas and Casa de Santar offer a wide variety of wine and food experiences as well as a wine shop and tasting room. Furthermore, the Paço dos Cunhas restaurant provides gastronomy from the Beira region with a contemporary twist. Some of the most precious and older wines that make up the portfolio of 19|90 Premium Wines are kept in the ancient cellar of Casa de Santar Vinhos.
