Founded in the early 19th century by the Count of Silves, Morgado do Quintão is a large and historic wine and agricultural estate located between Silves, Monchique and Lagoa, in the Algarve. The property still belongs to the family that has a deeply rooted passion for the land, the food, and the wines that are produced there.
The new generation in charge of Morgado do Quintão is committed to modernizing the wines and processes, relying on creativity, but at the same time remaining faithful to the land, origins and the weight of history that embellishes this project. The property's vineyards are some of the oldest in the Algarve, where indigenous grape varieties such as Negra Mole and Crato Branco grow and are then used to produce many of the award-winning wines.
In just four years – the first harvest was in 2016 – they went from 2,000 to 20,000 bottles produced annually. Exports grew and the various awards attest to the quality of the nectars produced, with low-intervention methods and free of chemicals and organics.
The old family houses and warehouses, which can be rented, were recovered and transformed into comfortable accommodation perfectly harmonized with the landscape made up of century-old vineyards and olive trees. The swimming pool completes the scenario for perfect days. At Morgado do Quintão there are also a huge variety of wine, gastronomic and “well being” experiences which you can try.
