Herdade do Rocim is a project that started in 2000 and is located between Vidigueira and Cuba, in the lower Alentejo region. The estate has approximately 120 hectares, 70 of which are vines.
The first years were dedicated to restructuring and renovating the estate, planting new vines and introducing new grape varieties, in a project that mixed new and old knowledge, reason and emotion, supported by the love of father and daughter. Later, the wine cellar was built and the production of wine began with their own brand.
Also in Cortes (Leiria), the hometown of José Ribeiro Vieira, founder of the company, Rocim started planting vines in 2003, with the goal of recovering the image of the brand of this region in Portugal and also the family tradition in winemaking, with the launch of Vale da Mata.
Today, Rocim is known for the quality of its wine and for its winery. Talking about its history is talking about a dream, and therefore, it’s also speaking of the present and future - because dreams are endless.
You can do a tour of the entire wine producing area, and the wine bar and shop are also must-see attractions. You can also get to know some of the grape varieties by visiting the estate’s educational vineyard. Of course, you mustn’t leave without tasting the wines.
