Brejinho da Costa is a family project founded by Comendador Manuel Barbeiro Costa in 2006. Since then, it has expanded significantly, not only in vineyard area, now covering 40 hectares, but also in its wine tourism facilities, production capacity, equipment, and technology. Located just 4 km in a straight line from the Atlantic Ocean, the estate benefits from the strong daily influence of Atlantic winds. In addition, the sandy soils and excellent sun exposure create a unique terroir that gives the wines their distinctive minerality.
At Brejinho da Costa, the sea breeze, sandy soil, and Mediterranean climate come together to produce bold, modern wines. A commitment to sustainability and limited production has resulted in wines that consistently surprise and delight wine lovers. The estate encompasses 125 hectares of forest and vineyards, where spontaneous flowering is encouraged, fostering biodiversity and attracting native fauna.
The name "Brejinho" comes from the regional landscape, long beaches and sandy areas known as brejinhas, located near the pine forests that once provided wood for shipbuilding during the Portuguese Discoveries. From local to international grape varieties, including Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc, Brejinho da Costa blends modernity, sustainability, and precision in its wine production. This careful balance has earned the winery numerous national and international awards.
Visitors can enjoy a range of experiences at Brejinho da Costa, from guided tours and wine tastings to a truly unique adventure: diving into the ocean to retrieve your own bottle of wine aged under the sea.
