This workshop will show you how pruning takes place in a vineyard and will include explanations on why pruning is used, the different phases of pruning (pre-pruning until final pruning), how it is done here at this winery, and why certain pruning methods are used. You will also be able to assist in the tying of some of the vines if this is needed in some cases and so get a better appreciation of the work in an organic vineyard.
You will use both manual and electric cutters as well as seeing how to tie the vines with elastics, string, and wires. Finally the workshop will end with a tasting of one of the wines made of the grape variety which you will be pruning. If the weather is good, you will have this tasting in the middle of the vineyard with magnificent views of the Douro River.
