Adega Belém, located in the historic neighbourhood of Belém in Lisbon, is run by winemakers Catarina and David. This unique space, which was previously a car repair shop, is now dedicated to producing high-quality wines.
Catarina and David are passionate about creating high-quality, organically balanced wines. They follow a philosophy of minimal intervention, inspired by the natural wine movement that began in France four decades ago. Their wines are spontaneously fermented and produced without sulphites, which helps maintain the diversity of yeasts and the natural complexity of the wine.
The grapes used at Adega Belém come from four distinct vineyards situated on both sides of the Tejo River. The combination of Atlantic breezes moderated by the coastal mountains of Sintra, Montejunto, and Arrábida, along with a long maturation period guaranteed by many hours of sunshine, results in grapes of excellent quality.
The motto “Made with love” reflects Catarina and David’s dedication to every step of the winemaking process. They work closely with winemakers, employ sophisticated artisanal techniques, and follow a family-oriented and responsible production method. All of this, of course, with special attention to the grapes that form the foundation of their exceptional wines.
